Macka’s Blog Hello Everyone, 3.3.0 is live and working well

Hello Everyone, 3.3.0 is live and working well which includes a lot of new ships, weapons and components to play with.
We are at the point now where we would like to see more members coming into Star Citizen so we people can start playing in the larger ships like the Hammerhead and 600 fully crewed.
Within these large ships are different consoles that can be manned so everyone can play a roll rather than being a passenger.
Crashes are still there; however crash handling is now a lot better. Just log back in and press the [ key on the keyboard and you are back to where you were then.
This allows you to return to a ship if you were on it to return to the ship and continue on with your game rather than loosing everything you had collected.
Saturday Nights are now a lot more fun with how the system has improved how we can now all get together as a group with the invite system. With over Saturday nights having up to 8 players in group. Much fun is had in transporting our members in getting fitted out with Guns, Armor, Ship Weapons and Ship Components from the different shops in Levski, Grim Hex and Port Olisar.
If you are a fan of Energy Weapons then Grim Hex should be your first stop. If you want a mix of Energy and Ballistic Weapons then Levski is your shopping destination. Armor plays the same way different locations have shops that specializing in their own brand of gear so there is a lot to explore.
What am I saying after all this, well I am saying that the fun times are just starting and if you do join us for a Saturday Night adventure let your mates know as the fun is just getting starting with the AUSMONAUTS.

Deep Space Support

Well I can add a mobile support base now to deep space exploring with a little help from the gang (Ausmonauts) eg support cover(fighters) and fuel(starfarer) all so a few Vulcan needed for repairs and resupply!

This is because of my change of direction with my ships got rid of old fleet and replaced with a new fleet now. Support with The Kraken , Intimidation  with The Hammerhead, Surprise with the Valkrie heavy dropship ,and all these ships need support with a large team to help with this fleet now!

So this shows I am committed to Star Citizen now for the long haul now.

Well, I am ready are you!

Star Citizen biggest update is about 4 weeks off now… With a full star system coming and new moons, planets and small rest stops. So it is going to take a while to go from one end to the other now! That’s what the small rest stops are for, because most ships will not have the fuel to get there now.

A lot of new tasks and jobs are in now with new mission givers as well. There are also improvements to mining with Asteroids now, some new ships and the revised version of Mustangs as well.

All of you should know what is coming by now if not see roadmap https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/board/1-Star-Citizen

My new toys are here now (see image) and I am getting ready for the new game play, are you?

Review: Ausmonauts adventures in Conan Exiles

As we explore the game verse waiting for the next updates to Star Citizen, some Ausmonauts have ventured into the world of Conan Exiles. Set in the world of Conan the Barbarian, immortalised by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1982 movie of the same name, the game sees the player start out alone in the desert of the exiles lands.

Here you must learn how to survive in the harsh environment and initially you are guided by a Journey system. In this system, you can find tasks which will lead you across the map in this sandbox style RPG.

Conan is a great game for older audiences and the Ausmonauts server now hosts two seperate clans battling out against the environment and each other.

If you are interested in playing you can get #ConanExiles through Steam and find the private server details in the Ausmonauts Discord channel.

The last few week’s have been very slow. Star Citizen Alpha 3.1.1 has been released to live now, what do you think about it?

Is it eye candy only? Nice ships and all the new guns are OK but the game is still lacking and unstable! Thankfully 3.2 is just about here.

All parts of game are up now and working, so Friday night shoot-em up is still on. This week we hope with a few of us showing up and having a go we will be able to have a fun night.

As the game becomes more stable I know more players will make a go of it and our events will get more hectic.

Many Ausmonauts play alpha/beta game versions, in fact did you know this guild started as a space sims clan, with many of the original members in the beta of Star Trek Online back in 2010, so what happened?

Comments welcome down below.

Happy Easter

For those who celebrate it, Happy Easter.

Sunday the 1st of April is also a trifecta of events.

  • Easter Sunday
  • April Fool’s Day
  • End of Daylight Savings for Australia’s East Coast

Good Luck with the kids Sunday morning.

Stephen Hawking

This month we were saddened to hear of the passing of renowned cosmologist Professor Stephen Hawking. For 50 years, he was an inspiration to scientists everywhere.

His daily battle with motor neurone disease did not stop him providing insights to mysteries which we are just now starting to observe. May he gain ever greater understanding of this vast universe in whatever journey he has now embarked on. Rest In Peace.

Star Citizen

Performance and Optimisation

With the issues people have been having playing at our Wednesday and Friday night events, its good to know that the developers have been spending time working through the backlog or bugs and improving the performance.

On Reverse the Verse, the guys went into details about some of the work they are doing to ensure the game performs a lot better in the next patch.

Speaking of the next patch, current info has release set for April. Once it has been released we will assess the game and get back into the game nights we gave planned in the event calendar.

World of Warships

With the issues in Star Citizen, it was a good chance for me to jump in on the World of Warships guys.

Listening to the clan battles was awesome fun and a hilarious night with the smack talk going on.

Special thanks to Jonito and Hound for organising the clan battles each night and if you are interested in joining in, check out the Events calendar for the next match time.

Bar Citizen

Saturday March 10th 2018, saw Star Citizen backers in Sydney meet up for Bar Citizen.

Special thanks goes out to our very own Astro for helping to organise this event.

Revek and I attended and met up with members of Brotherhood of the Mercenary and LAMP.

The main topic of the night, besides Star Citizen, was the hope that developers from Cloud Imperium Games Corp would make it out here again to meet the fans some time soon.

The organises also held a raffle for items from Star Citizen such as ship brochures for the upcoming Origin 600i.

Well a new week and not much to say for Wednesday night. The event being a bust, with my game and others still not working properly, the Shoot ’em Up! was also limited with the number of people that showed up. Friday night was a true Shoot ’em Up between myself and Shinji. Shinji won this time, my ping is finally getting better now thanks to the the NBN. Latency is approaching 40ms now down from from 600ms, a great improvement for me, as Star Marine still works!

Next, this week’s “Around the Verse” was titled Reclamation Now and saw a new installment of Ship Shape, looking at the Aegis Reclaimer (I am calling mine – Big Dog) and the Tumbril Cyclone. Check it out below.

The Aegis Reclaimer, will be the biggest ship in game so far! Six stops on the elevator from top to bottom. It’s so big, it needed the landing pads to be enlarged to fit this ship! What a monster! With eyes that can light up in the  front, claws that grab and hold, lasers to cut things to small pieces, offspring (drones) to seek and grab parts that they can retrieve, gun, cooler, generator and other small parts to store, then sell later. The claws have been turned off for 3.1, it is also going to take a few hours to learn to fly this ship. According to CIG, five people are needed to run this ship, in my opinion seven would be better, one engineer and one repairer for breakdowns and yet it only sleep’s five.

In policed area’s this ship could look after itself, but in deep space I would want a battle group of three ships at least.

  1. Terrapin for scouting
  2. Super Hornet to patrol
  3. Cutlass Black or Freelancer for transporting of scrap

Next up we have the Tumbril Cyclone, which will just be the cargo carrier version in 3.1 but more functionality will come in 3.3 with the combat variant (TR), the racing variant (RC), the anti-aircraft variant (AA), and the reconnaissance variant (RN) added into the game. The Banu Merchantman is in final grey box stage but still has work required to do with interior design to be OK by Chris Roberts.

The F8 has had front end changes again by Chris Roberts, the Vanduul Blade fighter and the Anvil Aerospace’s Terrapin are in the final finishing ready for 3.1 and 3.2.

Finally, Astro is back now after his big move and that’s all from me for this week.

It’s macka58 back with some personal experience in the game for this week…

With another week passing, I am waiting for a game reset due to the Vehicle bugs that have spawned as dud ships. I am on my personal best of 12 Starfarer’s spawned as empty hulls with no ship consoles, doors, engines or guns to be found. While the biggest pain is that it is happening to most of my ships now. Not only that, my luck with Arena Commander still has it spawning me in with no ship or character visible.

This week I will be providing a game update of what is coming up in 3.1. If you have had a look at “Around the ‘Verse” (ATV) over the previous weeks, a lot of the updates are at the polishing stage or ready to go. So, let’s start with the Character Customizer, which will let you change the face we have been looking at since the start of the game, with a range of different features now (no option for a woman character yet). Also helmet lights should work inside and out now with no more hats in the helmet.

Next are Planets, which will start to look better now with the engine improvements talked about in ATV on 09/03/2018, linked below. Flight Control System balance and tuning (so your ships will handle and jump better now). Ship Weapon balance, should work and look better with a plan for more guns to come as well. Ship Damage has had overhaul too with the plan to not break into small parts now but big parts now so you can move in and around the wreaks now looking for parts to be claimed personal use or sale.

MobiGlas has big changes to the Personal Manager and will be in the next update to allow us to make the change of armor, clothes and guns easier. Some of the change options will be on new displays in your helmet. Speaking of displays… ship displays have had a big rework and most displays you look at have had change for the better now. With new HUD displays you will be able to pick and choose up to six new display and their they are placement. A new communication (comms) screen is ready for ships and MobiGlas and are faceware ready now.

Soon aUEC will come into play, with Service Beacons going live. You will be able to set a beacon (distress call) for other players to either find you for transport or rob you! This will become the pirates favourite ambush! Service Beacons will be a big part going forward as escort, refuelling and repair will be in 3.2.

The new ships/vehicles are about 75% complete and if you have been watching ATV they look ready to walk through. The Aegis Reclaimer is looking good and it is going to take a few hours to learn to fly. Terrapin look like it can tackle most jobs, while ATV had a quick look at this ship showing the take-off motor, landing gear and turning 90 degrees for flight.

Most of Grim Hex is ready including the new feature of PU racing, where betting on racing will be provided (Bookies are ready for your aUEC). Razor fans, the racer is ready for racing around the Moon of Yela!

Finally, the Cyclone is ready to drive, however racing is still to be set up with track racing yet to come. There’s not much to report in the PU this week, however we had a great Friday night chat with everyone that came along and we hope to see you all again once the game is stable to play again.
